Roger O'Kane is an experienced engineer, project manager and safety advisor with extensive knowledge of both the diving and marine civil engineering and wind energy markets from the operational perspective. Roger has been directly involved with the conceptual development, construction and subsequent operation of  specialist marine transfer facilities for the transportation and loading of Vestas wind turbine blades from their manufacturing base on the Isle of Wight to the Port of Southampton and other bases in the local area.

 

With over 25 years' experience on civil engineering, wind energy, marine construction and diving projects in the UK and overseas, Roger has more recently specialised in  developing guidance documents and associated procedures to assist with the safe handling and transportation by sea of wind turbine blades and tower sections in multi-level  deck mounted stacks.
 
Formally Chairman of the Association of Diving Contractors (ADC) from 1998 to 2001, Roger is currently Secretary of the Association since 2003 working to coordinate and assist with improvements in the safety and operational capability of specialist diving contractors working Inland / Inshore in the UK and Ireland.
