Mike is a Chartered Engineer with over 21 years experience in the wind industry providing consultancy to wind farm developers, large energy users, financiers and UK Government. He has also overseen and conducted much practical research working first hand with wind turbine technology and has managed the Energy Research Unit wind test site.
Mike led BVG Associates’ delivery of the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s UK Renewables Service, which supports the deployment of wind energy in the UK and the growth of the UK supply chain. He also leads project development, and due diligence. Mike is a member of the Renewable UK Medium Wind Sub Group and the Renewable UK Wind Resource Group.
Mike joined BVG Associates from another consultancy where he delivered technical aspects of EIAs including noise, socio-economic, feasibility assessments, business development and consultancy services for wind projects.
He also advises and was a founder member in 2004 of the board of the community owned 6.5 MW Westmill Wind Farm in Oxfordshire which first generated in February 2008. This fits well with his passion to see a truly sustainable wind energy industry fully established in the UK which provides immediate local benefit to many.
