Through our knowledge of the technology and the supply chain, we help asset managers get the best out of their wind farms.
We support businesses supplying almost all wind turbine components, many balance of plant suppliers such as steel and concrete foundation manufacturers, and providing through-life services.
Our relationships with wind industry purchasers and R&D leaders give us insights into what they are looking for in new suppliers and technologies. A number of our team have worked within the supply chain, delivering product at lower cost and higher reliability each year while securing a profit.
An asset manager may own turbines from a number of manufacturers, sometimes placing it in a weak position to negotiate with O&M suppliers. Our knowledge of issues relating to different models and components enables us to provide advice.
We provide:
• Failure investigations
• Reports on repair and manufacturing quality control
• Advice on operations strategies
• Support to asset managers in their discussions with suppliers
We were recruited by a leading UK asset manager to investigate the cause of fires in its turbines.
A global energy company with rapidly growing wind assets in the US recruited BVG Associates to investigate the repair standards being undertaken by a blade manufacturer that supplies its manufacturing partner. We have been able to reassure the customer that quality problems of the blades had been taken seriously and that the supplier had brought in considerable resources to analyse defects, to identify remedial actions, to implement repairs and to address improvements in quality control of blades.
We act as a technical adviser to the largest 100% community-owned wind farm in the UK.
