Bruce Valpy founded BVG Associates in early 2005 and has created a rapidly growing, diverse client base including the market leaders in the wind turbine and tidal turbine sectors, Renewable UK, UK Government’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), utility providers, multi-nationals and private companies on four continents.
With a 1st class engineering degree from Cambridge University, Bruce understands the technical issues involved in a wide range of renewables applications and is able to share dialogue quickly with relevant experts.
In leading BVG Associates’ work for Renewable UK, Bruce is routinely in contact with offshore wind players - developers, wind turbine manufacturers and members of the supply chain, including steel and concrete foundation suppliers and installers. In leading work for DECC on developing the UK supply capability, Bruce also has dialogue on R&D matters with wind turbine manufacturers and knows the practical RD&D capability in the UK related to wind probably as well as anyone.
Before founding BVG Associates, Bruce led R&D activities in the UK for wind turbine manufacturer NEG Micon (then after merger, Vestas). During this time, Bruce grew an experienced and spirited multi-disciplinary team from 10 up to 23 people (R&D budget €3m) by building reputation for being creative, reliable, responsive and authoritative internal supplier of quality products.
